Wild islands in the Celtic Sea

I like to pick out details to photograph and am possibly even doing it 'wrong' when it comes to landscape photography, where traditionally, you would want to get as much of a scene in focus as possible. Ah well!

Here are some of my travel shots from the Isles of Scilly, an archipelago off Cornwall in the United Kingdom. They were a tropical paradise when I visited in the height of summer, with wild flowers and ferns blooming all around. There are lots of walking paths around the islands, so it's heaven for hikers.

Flowers blossom sooner on these islands thanks to the kind climate, so they do a roaring trade in daffodils in early spring.

I got to visit this magical place when I was working as a photographers' assistant on a shoot for a travel company, and these are my shots from a day of down time, which are now part of my stock library at Getty Images. I was delighted to see some of the wildflower pictures sell recently and so I thought it would be fun to share them.

You can get to the Scilly Isles by air or by sea, check out Isles of Scilly travel for more.

Stay kind and make things

I was feeling overwhelmed by many mad and sad things in the greater world and my own small corner of it, so that blogging seemed silly.

In reality, making things and sharing them is what heals me so I won't stop.

Here's one I made earlier - for sale on Getty Images - now I have to go make more OK bye x
